Filling an Empty Doghouse

Pat has been searching for a dog to fill the doghouse that he and the kids built for their school science project this winter.  After much searching, we found Lacey.  She is a Springer Spaniel Mix -- they think she's about 6 years old (they base this on her teeth).  But she has the energy of a pup!  The kids had a blast this afternoon playing ball with her and watching her swim in the baby pools they had set up at the Humane Society.  Pat joked about wanting a springer for Father's Day -- I worked hard the last two days and found one!  We hope to bring her home by the end of the week! The kids were so excited tonight when we put them to bed --- I'm not sure who is more excited though -- the kids or Pat?!

4th grade Basketball

Jacob had fun playing basketball with the Hot Springs fourth grade basketball team.  The team practiced for one month and then played a tournament at the beginning of March.  There weren't enough boys teams to make it a true tournament.  They played three games - for two of the games their opponents were 1-2 years older than them.  It's amazing how boys change from year to year.  The other teams were much taller and more coordinated.  It was a challenge for the 4th grade boys.  But they had fun.

Jacob scored twice in the second game.
It was a good experience for Jacob.
Jacob's eager for Pat to put the basketball hoop back up on the patio.

A New Skier in the Family

Sophia hit the slopes for the first time a few weeks ago!

A cute little skier!
Daddy helped Sophie learn to ski.  About 1/2 way through the morning she figured it out and was able to stop and go all by herself.

Here's a short video of her skiing at the end of the day.  She didn't want to quit.  I love the part at the end where she moves her feet quickly to try and make herself go forward.  It gets pretty flat at the end of the Beginner slope.
We have taken her a second time and she skied well despite a windy day.  She got knocked over by the wind just waiting in line to go up the magic carpet.  I didn't bring my camera the second time.  She'll be out-skiing me in no time!
