I'm not sure how "hi-tech" they are -- especially Sophia as she is holding her cell phone upside down. They were talking to monkeys, nana, papa, Jacob and Hannah - conversations I wish I would have recorded.

Haircuts for the Girls
I have always cut Hannah's hair. It has turned out pretty well most of the time, but it was time for a professional cut to straighten things once and for all. And Sophia was due for a trim too. So I made appointments back to back for the girls to have their hair cut. Hannah was a willing participant and came away looking quite pretty. The stylist even curled her hair with a curling iron -- something I don't currently own. So that was a treat for her.
Sophia wasn't about to sit alone in the chair. I ended up holding a wiggly girl on my lap. The stylist was able to get the really long uneven part trimmed up in the back. She was nervous about cutting her with the scissors because she was so wiggly. So we stopped with that and will go back in a few weeks to try and do more. We didn't want it to be a bad experience. The stylist said that with wiggly kids she finds it gets better with each visit.
Even with our wiggly little girl, it was a fun experience for them both to have their hair cut and very inexpensive. The stylist didn't charge me for Sophie's cut and only charged me half-price for Hannah's. We'll definitely be going back there!
Through the Eyes of Luke
Luke had fun taking pictures with my camera the other night. Here are the shots he took.....
Mommy being silly...
Not bad?

Swimming Together
Lois stopped through on her way to Colorado for her annual ski trip last night and tonight. She stayed at the Motel 6 in town as we are short sleeping space right now (another post to follow about that).
The motel has a pool. So I brought the kids over to the pool before lunch to swim. They were so excited they even wanted to skip going to the library (one of their favorite things to do on Friday mornings).
Each of them had a different level of comfort in the water today -- Jacob was jumping in off the side, no life jacket, swimming the back stroke from one end of the pool to the other.
Hannah used a life jacket and would swim from one adult to the next (Pat also joined us for swimming.)
Luke sat on the little step and the water was just deep enough so he could splash his feet and kick.
Sophia walked around the outside of the pool getting closer little by little until she finally stuck her toe in the water near the ladder and I gently picked her up and brought in the water with me. She clung to me in fear and was ready to get back out and watch from the deck after a quick swim with Mommy.

It was so nice to have a break from the normal Friday routine and do something different. It's fun to watch the older kids begin to enjoy swimming. And we had four tired kids for the rest of the day.
