Lois stopped through on her way to Colorado for her annual ski trip last night and tonight. She stayed at the Motel 6 in town as we are short sleeping space right now (another post to follow about that).
The motel has a pool. So I brought the kids over to the pool before lunch to swim. They were so excited they even wanted to skip going to the library (one of their favorite things to do on Friday mornings).
Each of them had a different level of comfort in the water today -- Jacob was jumping in off the side, no life jacket, swimming the back stroke from one end of the pool to the other.
Hannah used a life jacket and would swim from one adult to the next (Pat also joined us for swimming.)
Luke sat on the little step and the water was just deep enough so he could splash his feet and kick.
Sophia walked around the outside of the pool getting closer little by little until she finally stuck her toe in the water near the ladder and I gently picked her up and brought in the water with me. She clung to me in fear and was ready to get back out and watch from the deck after a quick swim with Mommy.

It was so nice to have a break from the normal Friday routine and do something different. It's fun to watch the older kids begin to enjoy swimming. And we had four tired kids for the rest of the day.

I love how exhausting swimming is, seams so healthy to get that tired every now and then... fun to see the progression in your brave swimmers.
